Dr. Joseph is a tenured Associate Professor of Biology at La Sierra University in Riverside, CA where he teaches courses in the Anatomical Sciences, including Neuroanatomy, Human Gross Anatomy, Histology, Human Anatomy & Physiology and Undergraduate Research. He co-teaches a natural sciences (NSCI) class entitled Nature and Human Values. Dr. Joseph earned his PhD degree in the Biomedical Sciences from The Morehouse School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA. He was awarded a Pre-Doctoral Fellowship in the Department of Biomedical Engineering of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, OH. He also holds an MS degree in Human Anatomy from Loma Linda University, Loma Linda, CA. Dr. Joseph’s general interest is in biomedical science research with special interest in the biology of bone cells (osteoblasts). He researches the mechanisms that mediate the effects of oxidative stress on these cells. Outcomes of his current research will enable approaches designed to prevent or mitigate bone loss due to prolonged bed rest, space flight, osteoporosis and other disorders of bone. Dr. Joseph is a recipient of the G.T. Anderson Award for excellence in teaching at the La Sierra University, College of Arts and Sciences. He is faculty sponsor of the La Sierra University Pre-Medical Society and faculty co-sponsor of the Latino students’ association, LUNA (Latinos United from Nations Abroad)
