In Australia one learns at school about the ANZAC story at Gallipoli. In 2015 I visited Turkey on the 100th anniversary of Gallipoli, Seeing many places with prominent historians on a Rotary tour. This gave a deeper understanding of the issues and factors contributing to itspeaceful outcome. I also attended the Istanbul conference on Peace, Friendship and Understanding where a Joint declaration of continued efforts towards maintaining Peace was jointly singed by Rotary representatives of Australia, New Zealand and Turkey.
