YiShun Lai is a volunteer with ShelterBox, the international disaster-relief organization. As a member of ShelterBox's Response Team, YiShun travels to areas of disaster, whether manmade or natural, to aid survivors with ShelterBox's bespoke disaster-relief kit. She has deployed in the aftermath of 7 disasters with ShelterBox, including Typhoon Haiyan, the Haitian earthquake, and flooding in Malawi. She is a writer and editor living in Southern California. Her debut novel, NOT A SELF-HELF BOOK: THE MISADVENTURES OF MARTY WU, will be published in May 2016 by Shade Mountain Press.
